FORTUNA is the Roman Goddess of luck and fate. She was called upon to bring good luck, but she sometimes wore a blindfold, depicting the unknowable qualities of the future. Her name means "she who brings", and she was also sometimes depicted holding a cornucopia (a horn of plenty). Fortuna was worshipped throughout the Roman world, and her many epithets reflect the different aspects of her blessings:
