"MOON: WAXING TIME: DAWN COLORS: SOFT AND LIGHT PASTELS SUCH AS PINK AND LIGHT YELLOW"GODDESS ASPECT: MAIDEN"
The Maiden aspect of the Great Goddess represents youth, innocence, and beauty; She represents the springtime of our lives when all is in bloom. In the mythological tales, the Maiden generally portrayed as a very young woman who is without a family or a home to care for; She is unmarried and free to live for the moment and gaily romps about playing in the forest. She is young, single, and virginal, representing our potential, the person we are becoming. The Maiden is present in each of us...no matter what our age. The Maiden resides in the place where we are complete unto ourselves. When we take a risk, it is She who who was behind us, forever prodding us to awaken ourselves to the potential and creativity which lie hidden deep within the recesses of our psyche. She is the state of our spirit and not our physical state of being.
Before patriarchy, the meaning of the word "virgin" was to "own oneself and one's own energy". The Maiden needed no one else to make her complete, and She was free to mate with any man of Her choosing and at at whatever time she chose. She was a free thinker, a person unto herself. Each of us will struggle with the feeling owned or controlled in our lives--be by a spouse, a parent, an addiction, or an illness--and it is the Maiden who will help us through it if we seek Her. If you call on Her, the Maiden will teach you how to look within your own dark recesses of your mind to reveal your true nature.
She is a roaming spirit, a free thinker, and a person unto Herself who strives to remove the constraints of her existence whatever they may be. She will appear whenever we are our own desires and ideas for ourselves, and She is now making Her return as women all over are beginning to follow their own hearts and dreams. She is the personification of a perfect truth, of the the waxing moon. Seasons change and Moon phases come and go; flowers blossom and wither away. And we have become so fixated on the external appearance of these cycles that we neglect to fail to look beyond...and because we focus so much on a biological stage, we bring ourselves into a depression so that by the time we reach our Crone Moon we hide behind leathered, wrinkling skin and our withered dreams.
We must remember that each day is a new beginning and another opportunity to achieve our spiritual and intellectual goals...and in doing so, we can create an "ageless" relationhip with ourselves.

GAURI is the Hindu Goddess of purity. She is an avatar of the Goddess Parvati. When Parvati first sought out Shiva to seduce him, Shiva found her dark skin to be unattractive. Parvati retreated into the forest, where she lived a very austere life, developing her spiritual powers. Brahma took notice of Parvati's mastery of her physical self, and decided to grant her one wish. Parvati asked that her dark skin be taken away, so that Shiva would love her. Brahma took the darkness and created the Goddess Kali with it, leaving Parvati with golden skin, and she became the Goddess Gauri.
Gauri is usually depicted with light or golden skin. Because of her color, she is also associated with rice and grains, taking on the role of a fertility Goddess. Gauri's name means "golden," and her 108 name hymn includes the following names:
