Enten is a Sumerian fertility deity. He was said to have been created by Enlil as a guardian of farmers, along with the vegetation god Emesh. Enten was given specific responsibility for the fertility of ewes, goats, cows, donkeys, birds, and other animals. He is identified with the abundance of the earth and with the winter period.

SHE WAS THE MOTHER OF JUPITER, NEPTUNE, PLUTO, JUNO, CERES, AND VESTA. SHE RULES OVER FERTILITY AND VEGETATION, SUPPLYING THE EARTH WITH ABUNDANT HARVESTS AND WEALTH. SHE IS A NURTURING GODDESS, TEACHING HUMANITY HOW TO PROPERLY CARE FOR THE CROPS AND HOW TO REAP AND SOW ACCORDINGLY...THE BOUNTIFUL MONARCH OF THE GOLDEN AGE.

HER OLDEST PLACE OF WORSHIP WAS A SMALL SHRINE IN THE ANCIENT ROYAL PALACE; IT IS HERE WHERE HER HARVEST CEREMONY WAS PERFORMED. OPS ALSO ACQUIRED QUEENLY STATUS, AND BY PUBLIC, DECREE, TEMPLES, PRIESTS AND SACRIFICES WERE ACCORDED TO HER.
