NANA BULUKU is the Fon Goddess of creation, grandmother to all the Gods. She is the mother of Mawu and Lisa, the twins who created the human race. Nana Buluku is represented as being both female and male, Goddess and God in one body. When she first created the earth, she also created Aido Hwedo, the rainbow serpent, as her companion. Aido Hwedo carried Nana Buluku in his mouth as she worked to shape the earth, and his movements created valleys and rivers. When the earth was finished, Nana Buluku asked Aido Hwedo to hold it up, and he settled into the oceans with his tail in his mouth to support it.
Nana Buluku is known by different names to the various West African tribes. She is NANA BOUCLOU to the Dahomey of Benin, NANA BURUKU to the Yorubas, and is also known as NANA and NANAN.

SITA is the Hindu Goddess of female virtue, the ideal wife and mother. She is the wife of Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu, which therefore makes her an incarnation of Vishnu's wife, Lakshmi. Sita followed her husband into exile when he gave up his throne to one of his younger brothers. She was then kidnapped by the demon king Ravana and held by him for a year. During her confinement, Sita remained faithful to her husband Rama, and even the demon Ravana did not touch her. He saw that her virtue was such that it would be death to violate her.
When Rama freed Sita from the demon king, he doubted her fidelity. To allay his fears, Sita volunteered to an ordeal by fire, which proved that she was virtuous. Her purity was such that the God of fire, Agni, was himself burnt by the flames. Even so, Rama was disturbed by the rumors that his wife had been unfaithful to him, and he banished her, even though she was pregnant with his children. Sita gave birth to twin sons, Luva and Kush, and raised them alone.
When the boys were teenagers, Rama heard news of their exploits, and realized that they were indeed his sons. He asked Sita and their sons to return to the kingdom. Unfortunately, the people's rumors were still more important to Rama than his own wife, and he again asked Sita to undergo an ordeal by fire. This time, Sita refused, saying "If I have remained true to Rama in mind, speech and action, may the Mother Earth embrace me in her bosom." On her words, the earth opened up and swallowed her, leaving behind a husband who was not worthy of such a faithful and virtuous wife.

Belatu-Cadros, also rendered Belatucadros or Belatucadrus, was a deity worshipped in northern Britain, particularly in Cumberland and Westmorland. He may be related to Belenus and Cernunnos, and was equated in the Roman period with Mars. He appears to have been worshipped by lower-ranked Roman soldiers as well as by Britons. Belatu-Cadros is known from approximately 28 inscriptions in the vicinity of Hadrian's Wall, England. The spelling of the god's name varies a great deal, and dedications to Balatocadrus, Balatucadrus, Balaticaurus, Balatucairus, Baliticaurus, Belatucairus, Belatugagus, Belleticaurus, Blatucadrus and Blatucairus are generally accepted as variants of Belatu-Cadros. The most common of these forms is Belatucadrus, which as a result is the name generally used in modern writings. In five of these inscriptions, Belatu-Cadros is equated with the Roman god Mars as Mars Belatucadrus. The altars dedicated to Belatu-Cadros were usually small, simple and plain, leading to the suggestion that this god was mainly worshipped by people of low social status. The name is frequently glossed as 'fair shining one' or 'fair slayer' presumably because the first syllable of the name is analogous to the reconstructible Proto-Celtic

The Moon Goddess was a daughter of Tengri and Earth and was viewed with both fear and affection. The moon represented the night and was pictured as a noble woman. The night’s darkness heralded the emergence of malicious spirits from holes. The feasts and celebrations of malicious spirits occurred at night. The rituals and trances of witches were always timed according to the phases of the Moon (usually a full moon). At night, illnesses got worse and caused more deaths. Robberies and murders usually occur at night. On the other hand, the Turks trusted the magic influence of the Moon. She was their sole ‘night lantern’. To please the Moon Goddess, those born during a full moon were given names as such: Aisylu, Aituly, Ainir, Aizirek and Ainaz.
From ancient times the Turks believed that women had secret lunar powers. The menstrual cycle seemed to coincide with the monthly phases of the moon. Female pregnancy lasts about nine lunar months and women often deliver during a full moon. The three phases of the moon were also symbolic. It was believed that at ‘Ai Naazy’ (new moon) the moon symbolised a growing young girl, who is pure and modest. At ‘Ai Toly’, ‘Tuly Ai’ (full moon), the moon personified a mature good-natured mother. At ‘Ai Karty’ (old moon) the moon aged, became wise, but at the same time quarrelsome and malicious. Before its death, the moon reigned over a totally dark night. The forces of life and death met during these three nights. After the meeting they separated, only to meet again after a defined period. When the old moon died, a new one was born and so on, ad infinitum.
