THERE WAS ONCE A GODDESS WHO WAS HALT HUMAN AND HALF SNAKE; OTHER SAY SHE WAS HALF DRAGON. SHE HAD THE ABILITY TO CHANGE SHAPE AND COULD DO SO MANY TIMES A DAY. "NUGUA", THE CHINESE MOTHER GODDESS, HAS A WOMAN'S UPPER BODY BUT A DRAGON'S TAIL. SHE INVENTED THE WHISTLE, THE ART OF IRRIGATION, THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE, AND ACCORDING TO CHINESE MYTHOLOGY, "NAGUA "WAS THE FIRST DEITY TO LIVE ON THE EARTH, BUT SHE WAS LONELY AND YEARNED FOR THE COMPANY OF BEINGS LIKE HERSELF WITH WHO SHE COULD TALK AND LAUGH. SO SHE CREATED THE FIRST PEOPLE FROM YELLOW MUD, CAREFULLY CRAFTING THEM WITH HER OWN HANDS.

"NAGUA" IS CELEBRATED AS THE CO-FOUNDER OF CHINESE CULTURE, ESPECIALLY OF ORACLES AND WRITING.
