AMPHITRITE SPENT MOST OF THE TIME SINGING AND DANCING WITH HER SISTERS...UNTIL ONE DAY WHEN POSEIDON, THE GOD OF THE SEA, SAW HER AND FELL IN LOVE; HE WANTED HER TO BE HIS BRIDE....BUT AMPHITRITE HAD VOWED TO LIVE A LIFE OF VIRGINITY; SHE FLED ON A TIDAL WAVE AND HID FROM HIM IN THE DEPTHS OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. KNOWING HOW MUCH SHE LOVED THE DOLPHINS, POSEIDON SENT ONE IN SEARCH OF HIS FUTURE BRIDE; THE DOLPHIN LOCATED HER AND BROUGHT HER BACK TO POSEIDON, AND THE PAIR WERE MARRIED. THEIR SON IS THE FISH MAN, TRITON.
NOW THEIRS WAS NOT A HAPPY MARRIAGE. POSEIDON LIKED TO SLEEP AROUND, AND AMPHITRITE'S ANGER CAUSED MANY STORMS AT SEA...STORMS THAT COULD ONLY BE CALMED BY THE THREATS OF POSEIDON'S TRIDENT OR THE CALMING WORDS OF HER FATHER IN THE FORM OF THE WARM WEST WINDS.
TODAY IS WORLD OCEAN'S DAY. LET US PRAY FOR OUR GREAT MOTHER, THE GREAT QUEEN.
CAST LIGHT UPON THE DARKENED EARTH,SAVE THOSE LOST IN DESPAIR. "O MIGHTY OCEAN, GUIDE US AS WE JOURNEY THROUGH"THE DARKEST PIT OF THE NIGHT."AND MAY TIME, EVER FLEETING, FORGIVE US,"WE. WHO HAVE FORSAKEN OUR SONG"AND BURIED OUR FUTURE."FIND US, O MIGHTY OCEAN, AND FORGIVE US."--UNKNOWN--"
