THEIA (pronounced THEE-ah) is the Greek Goddess of sight and the lights of the sky. She is one of the Titans, daughter of Gaia and Ouranos, and sister-wife to another Titan, Hyperion, God of observation. Their three children, Eos (Goddess of dawn), Selene (Goddess of the moon), and Helios (God of the sun), were the personifications of the lights of the sky. Theia also had dominion over precious metals and gems, which seemed to shine with their own light, and was associated with an oracle at Phthiotis, which could shine light on the future. Theia's name, which means "sight," is also seen as THEA, and she was alternately known as AITHRE (clear sky), EURYPHAESSA (wide-shining), and IKHNAIE (tracing).

THEY SHARED ONE EYE AND ONE TOOTH AMONGST ONE ANOTHER, BUT THEY LOST EVEN THAT WHEN PERSEUS STOLE THEIR EYE AND LATER THREW IT INTO A LAKE.
AS THE STORY GOES, KING POLYDECTES SENT PERSEUS OFF TO BRING HIM BACK MEDUSA'S HEAD; SO PERSEUS WENT OFF IN SEARCH OF THE GRAIAI. HE HAPPENED UP THEM JUST AS THEY WERE PASSING THE EYE BETWEEN THEM AND SNATCHED IT AWAY...SAYING THAT IT WOULD NOT BE RETURNED TO THE SISTERS UNTIL THEY TOLD HIM WHERE THE GORGON'S LIVED. IN DESPERATION, THEY TOLD PERSEUS WHERE THEY LIVED WHICH FURTHER LED HIM TO FINDING HADES INVISIBLE HELMET AND WINGED SHOES. THUS, PERSEUS WAS ABLE TO DESTROY MEDUSA BECAUSE OF HIS INVISIBILITY AND HIS NEW FOUND ABILITY TO FLY.
DESPITE BEING SO EASILY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, THE GRAIAI WERE ACTUALLY VERY WISE.
